Discontent is a feeling a lot of people seem to be having lately. Whether it’s because they are not earning as much money as they want or because they are nowhere near their projected goals at their age, this feeling will eat at your patience and destroy your self-worth. Remember that discontent will not help in your goal towards achieving personal growth. Instead of wallowing in that negative feeling, here are a few favours that you can do for yourself in order to get back on your feet again.
1. Reach out to your loved ones.
You may be going through a rough patch right now, but you will always have your closest friends and family by your side. Remember that they are there to listen to you and help you, and not to judge you.
2. Appreciate the finer things in life.
Through all the crazy problems you have been going through, did you ever stop and think about how wonderful it is to be alive? Take your time to appreciate your environment; there’s always something to be grateful for.
3. You are able to work.
You may have lost your job or you may not be doing so well at the one you are in right now, but remember this: you are given intellect and an able body. These are more than sufficient for you to seize every opportunity to earn and be self-sufficient.
4. You can always help others out.
Your resources—financial and otherwise—may be limited, but that doesn’t mean you can’t help other people. Volunteer for the community, help out a friend in need, assisst the elderly. You can always help, and that’s a great reason to feel good about yourself.
5. You are loved.
Your spouse, kids, parents, siblings—these are only some of the people who enjoy life because you’re around. So cheer up, because these people look forward to their day because you’re around!
6. You are unique.
No two people are alike–you are your own brand of you. You have your own unique set of skills and talents that you can utilize to your full advantage. So by all means share what you’re gifted with!
7. You have yet to maximize your potential.
The great thing about waking up to a new day is that you have yet another opportunity to maximize your potential. The truth is, you don’t have to stop growing; there’s always something new to learn, new horizons to navigate, and new ways to enhance your talent.
